God Bless America

Last night Gary and I went to the Italian restaurant that's in the Sheraton. We had the most adorable server from the Philippines. He asked us where we were from and when we said America he got so excited. He told us it has been his dream since he was a little boy to go to America. Then he asked me if I knew the song "God Bless America."

I said, "of course."
He asked, "Would you sing it for me?" I don't get embarressed very easily and I love to sing, but being put on the spot like this really made me turn all kinds of red. However, since he was so sweet, I sang the song. He just kept telling me how beautiful it was throughout the rest of our meal.

God Bless America, Land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above

From the Mountains. To the prairies
To the oceans white with foam.
God Bless America my home sweet home.

It's like a prayer really. God please bless our country. We love living in the land of the free. Please be the guide to the government so that as Christians we can stand by our laws. Bless the whole land and all the people. Thank you for our home.

I thank that server for reminding me what a great country we live in and no matter what happens God is in control.

What a sweet story - it hits home that we take so much for granted with our citizenship, while there are others who would LOVE the opportunity to be a U.S. citizen.
